WhatsYourPrice.com is an adult dating site that adopts a direct approach to the sugar dating experience. Billing itself as a marketplace for “buying and selling dates”, the site makes no secret about its focus on connecting sugar daddies with sugar babies. Over 650,000 men and women have supposedly found their match at WhatsYourPrice.
A Las Vegas-based operation, WhatsYourPrice has been prominently featured in such publications as Time Magazine, Forbes, and the Daily Mail, among others. The site was founded by the same company responsible for the luxury sugar dating site, SeekingArrangement.com. You would therefore expect WhatsYourPrice, to benefit from its founders’ 17-plus years of experience in the sugar dating arena.
Unfortunately, WhatsYourPrice shares few of the more appealing characteristics of its high-end counterpart. While SeekingArrangement has made its mark with a range of quality features and services geared toward the elite set of sugar daddies, WhatsYourPrice delivers a decidedly less elegant and satisfactory experience.
The WhatsYourPrice.com online dating system
WhatsYourPrice groups its clientele into two categories: “Generous Members”, who are essentially sugar daddies, and “Beautiful Members”, the sugar babies. Generous Members are expected to initiate the dating process by browsing the listings and making an offer to the Beautiful Members they wish to date. If the offer is accepted, they can then make arrangements for a personal meeting.
Beautiful Members for their part have the option to accept or decline offers, or negotiate further. After they come to an agreement with regard to price, they can make arrangements for the actual date.
Signing up for an account
In order to become a member at WhatsYourPrice.com, you will first have to sign up for an account and create a member profile. Approval usually takes 24 hours, although you may also sign up for a trial account, which are approved immediately.
Upon approval of your account, you will be asked to specify your preferred membership level, each of which comes with a corresponding fee (details are provided below). After your payment is verified, you will be able to access all the features of the site.
WhatsYourPrice offers a background verification process for members. Available with an additional $50 fee on top of the regular membership cost, the verification processes isn’t mandatory.
On the company’s website, you will find a “dating guarantee” that supposedly protects members against the risk of scams and other unscrupulous practices. This is a fairly extensive document that should bolster confidence in the site by essentially guaranteeing the legitimacy of all Beautiful Members.
Despite this guarantee however, it was pretty obvious that a number of profiles on the site were from fictitious members. In fact, many online reviews of WhatsYourPrice.com mention the prevalence of fake profiles from con artists who are only out to fleece prospective sugar daddies from their money.
Fees and refund policy
There is no charge for signing up for an account at WhatsYourPrice.com, and there is no subscriptions fee either. Instead, the website employs a credit-based system, similar to that of AnastasiaDate and other sugar dating websites. Credits are basically used for initiating contact with other members of the site, with each membership level coming with varying amounts of credit.
The $50 membership package gives you 100 credits, while the $150 membership comes with 450 credits. For the $250 membership package, you get 1,000 credits. After you have consumed all your credits, you will have to purchase more.
Credits are debited every time you send a message to a Beautiful Member. However, you may also send as many “flirts” as you want, without using up any credits. These are simply quick notifications that indicate your interest in a sugar baby. If she accepts your flirt, you can then send your offer or negotiate further, with the appropriate amount being deducted from your credits.
The pro and cons of WhatsYourPrice
According to the copy on the WhatsYourPrice website, the “patent-pending online dating system” employed by the site enables sugar daddies to meet beautiful women who they would not be able to meet otherwise. The site also claims to guarantee a date with every accepted offer.
Admittedly, the system employed by the site does streamline the whole offer-negotiation process somewhat. However, successfully getting a date seems more about being able to make a generous offer rather than appealing to a sugar baby with some personal characteristic or physical attribute.
Let’s not mince words here: we all know what the sugar dating process is about, and what it entails. However, the way the WhatsYourPrice system is set up makes it more about the ability to pay rather than making a real connection with a chosen date.
To its credit, the site does seem to have an abundant supply of beautiful women, many of whom have been verified to be genuine. But along with these are the inevitable dubious accounts and obviously bogus “Beautiful Members”, all of whom detract from what would otherwise be an enjoyable experience.
We also question the method by which the WhatsYourPrice staff matches prospective sugar daddies with sugar babies. Many of the Beautiful Members presented in the selection were an awkward fit for us at best, given the specifications we detailed in our profile. Others obviously would have been a complete disaster from the start, if we had attempted to even set up a meeting, which we didn’t.
Still others seemed promising enough, until we chatted them up and realized they had very little in common with the online persona that they presented via their profiles. One woman who billed herself as a young and carefree single woman in her “early 20s” turned out to be someone who could easily pass for twice that. Needless to say, that was one prospect that we did not particularly care to follow through on!
There are far too many things wrong with WhatsYourPrice.com for us to be able to recommend the site in good faith. Where do we begin? For starters, there is the overabundance of fake user accounts and obviously bogus profiles. To be sure, this is almost expected in the world of sugar dating, and we would be hard pressed to find a site that didn’t come with at least a few shady accounts. But it seems to us that WhatsYourPrice.com has way more than most, and it was enough to make us consider checking out other sites instead.
And then there is the questionable method for determining matches. We would expect sugar daddy sites to at least get most of the matches close to the mark, but some of the options presented to us seemed from a different planet entirely. It was absolutely mystifying to us how we were frequently presented options that had little to do with our specified preferences. Given all these issues, we would have to suggest that you take your money elsewhere.
